The Enguri Zipline is open. Since 16 July 2026 you can fly 628 metres straight across the canyon of the Enguri arch dam in Jvari, up to 320 metres above the ground, which makes it the highest zipline in Georgia. It is one of the most thrilling outdoor activities in the country and the newest reason to stop at Enguri Dam on the road to Svaneti.
You start at the dam entrance, get fitted with a harness and helmet, and step off above the gorge of the world's second-highest concrete arch dam. The line runs the full 628 metres with the 271.5 metre dam wall on one side and the turquoise Enguri reservoir on the other. The whole flight takes 40 to 50 seconds and tops out at around 70 km/h. Because the zipline is built as two parallel lines, two people can ride at the same time side by side, which is the reason most visitors come in pairs.
The zipline runs on high tensile stainless steel cables with a modern American automatic magnetic braking system, so the stop at the far platform is handled by the equipment rather than by the rider. Harnesses and helmets are certified professional gear and staff fit every rider before launch.
Enguri Dam is one of the most visited industrial-heritage destinations in Georgia. The dam itself is among the tallest arch dams in the world and is part of the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH). Visitors come for the dam viewing platform, the tunnel tours, and the Inguri river canyon, and the zipline now sits inside that cluster of attractions.
The zipline is at the Enguri Dam entrance in Jvari, in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region of north-west Georgia, on the main road up to Mestia and Svaneti. It is roughly 30 km from Zugdidi, 125 km from Kutaisi airport, 180 km from Batumi and about 414 km from Tbilisi, which makes it an easy stop on a Svaneti road trip and a long but popular day trip from Kutaisi, Zugdidi or Batumi.
Most visitors combine the zipline with a guided tour of the dam itself. Enguri Attractions runs a Walking Tour, a 40 minute Short Tour and a 2 hour Full Tour that goes inside the tunnels and shield buildings, plus the Damology Museum, the Rock Art Gallery and the Digital Space. Guides work in Georgian, English and Russian. The site is open 09:00 to 19:00 daily from 1 April to 15 October and 10:00 to 17:00 daily from 15 October to 1 April.
